The threads feed an open market.

Data brokers aggregate the records. People-search sites put them one search away. Advertisers hold entire profiles of your movements, and those profiles get resold. A tool called Fog Reveal gave police a browsable map of location trails from hundreds of millions of phones, pulled from the ad market, at times without a warrant. And the market stays open to anyone who pays, a stalker included, or worse.
